Why choose us?

Gilgai Public School is a small school, within the rural township of Gilgai, on the traditional land of the Kamilaroi People. Positioned along the banks of Gilgai Creek and surrounded by picturesque bushland, the school offers a rich and natural setting conducive to learning. The school motto, "Face the Task," embodies its commitment to empowering students and fostering resilience.

The school is dedicated to providing a well-rounded education that encompasses academic, social, emotional, cultural, and sporting opportunities, aiming to develop the capabilities of all students.

At Gilgai Public School, personalised learning is delivered in composite class groups. Students receive support from dedicated teaching and support staff who are committed to maintaining a high-quality learning environment. The school employs explicit teaching methods and data-driven practices to enhance student achievement.

The 'You Can Do It' framework and the Life Skills Go program cultivate a school culture that emphasises positive student wellbeing. Strategies and behaviours that promote social and emotional regulation are explicitly taught to enrich students' learning experiences.

Active partnerships are nurtured both within the school and the broader community, with a strong emphasis on the involvement of parents and community members in their children's education. The dedicated staff collaborates with families to equip students with the skills and confidence necessary to become positive and active citizens in the school, Gilgai, and the wider community.

Gilgai Public School is committed to creating a collaborative learning environment by partnering with schools in the Sapphire Community of Schools and the Sapphire Small Schools Alliance. These partnerships offer enhanced opportunities for students and staff through shared resources, professional development, and enriched educational experiences.

The school prioritises the needs of its students, ensuring a caring and supportive learning environment.
